The Edgeworks Photo Album
Posted by Nerrolken Apr 20th, 2008 | 10:30 pm
Well, the prototype has arrived and it looks fine all around, so I have officially made the Edgeworks Photo Album available for purchase! There is a picture of the cover available on the Store page, along with a smaller thumbnail of the entire book, so you can get an idea of the content throughout.

We ended up getting over forty submissions from forum members, along with a lot of names and cities, so you can get some new info on your old friends. We've also included photos of every single member of the cast and crew of both series, even the ones who don't have Bios pages on the site, and many of the other cast members have new, never-before-seen photos in the book. The book also includes credits, statistics, history and background from throughout the series, and a new shot of the Heretic Crew. Overall, its a great package for any Edgeworks fan, so grab yours now!

Photos, Books, and Radio
Posted by Nerrolken Apr 15th, 2008 | 8:40 pm
Greetings, everyone! I've got two big pieces of news to announce. First, after receiving dozens of photos for the Edgeworks Photo Album, I have finalized the design and sent the prototype off to be printed. I got notification that it was shipped to me yesterday, so hopefully it should be here soon. Once it is, as long as there aren't any problems with the layout or the content, I'll put up a link on the site where you can order it yourself!

The other big piece of news I've got is that the Marketplace interview I announced a while back was broadcast across the country today on NPR, a very well-respected public radio station. It's also available, as an audio file and a transcript, on Marketplace's website. It's got some good reporting on the nature of machinima and on Microsoft's Game Content Usage Rules, so go check it out!

I'll be posting another news post when I confirm that the Edgeworks Photo Album is ready to be ordered. Stayed tuned!

Edgeworks Photo Album - The 11th Hour
Posted by Nerrolken Mar 8th, 2008 | 3:03 pm
I've gotten some messages from people who are looking for a little more time to submit photos, so here's the deal: if you want to submit your photo for the Edgeworks Photo Album, now's the time. The deadline was technically today, but between a research paper and Jeff coming to LA for the weekend, it's going to be a couple of days before I can put it all together. If you get it in before I happen to start working, I'll include it. You've got some time, but don't wait around.

Reminder - Edgeworks Photo Album
Posted by Nerrolken Feb 23rd, 2008 | 3:11 pm
This is a reminder to send in your photos for the Edgeworks Photo Album. For those of you who've submitted photos to the Pics of Everybody thread, we'll just pick one of them for the album if you don't send in another one.

Also, due to public interest, we are now accepting real names and locations for the album, but, and I can't stress this enough, only if you want to share them. If you only want your screenname by your picture, that's fine, but if you want to list your real name and location, just include it in the email with your photo. (If you've already sent your photo, just send a follow-up email.)

In light of these new submission options, I'm extending the deadline for submissions to two weeks from today, (March 8th). So, you've got some time, but send in your photos as soon as you can! Just send an email to awinn@thecodexseries.com, subject line "Edgeworks Photo Album."

Edgeworks Anniversary
Posted by Nerrolken Feb 9th, 2008 | 8:17 pm
Well, it's February 9th, and here at Edgeworks HQ that's a big deal. Three years ago today, we released Episode 1 of The Codex. Two years ago today, we announced production of our second series, The Heretic. One year ago today, we released Episode 1 of The Heretic. It's been a wild three years, and after the 15-hour production days, the crazy release schedules, and the frantic Feb. 9th's, the sudden lack of a machinima series is an odd sensation. But just because we don't have a new project ready to launch doesn't mean there isn't anything cool to announce, so read on...

We have, as you can see, a new banner for the Edgeworks section of the site. It is a return to the older "bar logo," but with a new polish. We also have a new About Edgeworks page, and with it a set of new desktops, featuring the updated Edgeworks logo on a starstreak background, available in widescreen or fullscreen varieties.

The next thing I want to announce is that several weeks ago I did an interview for Marketplace, a radio program produced and distributed by American Public Media, about the effect of Microsoft's Game Content Usage Rules on the world of machinima. It is set to be broadcast on national public radio stations around the country, as well as being available online at some point in the coming weeks. The broadcast schedule has not yet been finalized, but I'll make a newspost when it is so you can tune in!

The biggest news, however, is not an update to the site or a radio interview, it is a community event. In the next few weeks we will be accepting submissions of headshots and photos from the community to be included in a limited edition Edgeworks Photo Album. This album will include photos of the entire Edgeworks crew, along with all the cast of both series, and as many forums members as we can get. To make your submission, just send an email to awinn@thecodexseries.com with your photo and forum name, (we don't need your real name or any personal info), and put "Edgeworks Photo Album" in the subject line. We will be accepting submissions for three weeks, and once the submission period has ended we'll compile all the photos and post a link where you can buy the book. This is an excellent chance to become a part of Edgeworks history, and all the money made from the sale of these books will go to maintaining the site and the community.

So, site updates, new desktops, radio interviews, and a chance to be involved in a piece of Edgeworks history, plus remember that the Edgeworks Sale is continuing until we're completely out of t-shirts and CDs, so grab yours now! But there is just one more thing: I set the wheels in motion today on a new endeavor that, while I can't tell you anything about it right now, could potentially end up being big news. BIG news.

So stay tuned...
